[ C3ll ]
This show originated in March 2020 in reaction to the abrupt halt of the first lockdown. Forced to initiate this creation in their apartment, the artists Ilia Gilbertas and Etienne Bernardot took the box as their starting point, using it as a choreographic partner and projection surface.
Through this performance, the artists explore the theme of physical, moral, and institutional confinement, focusing particularly on the consequences for individuals and our societies. C3ll is a mise en abyme of the paradoxes linked to security and hyper-surveillance: on the one hand, the feeling of protection, used as a pretext for securing our societies, leading to confinement, the acceptance of exponential surveillance, and physical and mental isolation; and on the other hand, the need for freedom, for connection, and for sharing.
